I’m not British. I’m not English. I’m not famous. I’m not the mayor of London. I do have Scot-Irish ancestry mixed with German. I live in America and not England. No matter. I want to drive the car on Top Gear. I want to be on Top Gear.

Oh no, not that American crap. The real Top Gear. The one on the BBC. The Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Hamster. I mean Richard Hammond. I want to drive the Kia. I want to sit on the Green bench seat and talk to Jeremy. Heck, I want to talk to them all. I want to help them with a film about getting lost.

Oh yeah. I do want to be on Top Gear. Think of it. A home brewing, photography loving, Autobahn trained American guest on a British television show. I want to talk torques and horse powers (why do they make plurals of those words) with Jeremy. I want to talk over pints of beer with James May. I want to do better doughnuts better than Hamster. I mean Richard Hammond.

So, BBC, come one. Give a bloody Yank a break. I’ll even come early and make beer for the audience.

I want to be on Top Gear.

We are on the last full day at being at the beach at Emerald Isle, North Carolina and tonight is taco night. Last week, we drove from

Cincinnati, Ohio to Mechanicsville, Virginia. We still don’t know if we are driving home to Cincinnati on Saturday or Sunday. Yeah, it is a bit late to be discussing such maneuvers, but such goes vacation.

The greatest lessons learned during this whole trip is one easily forgotten: be flexible. When things don’t go as planned, change the plans or perish. Too many people get completed stuck in the schedule and fail to see when it is time to change. They ignore the signs and complain. They get angry and point to the schedule. They will not relax.

Some things do require a tight schedule. Open heart surgery being one. The patient will not live for too long if left open. Very few things in life, however, require such a tight schedule. Failing to plan is as dangerous, so plan, go and be flexible.

Who knows where we are going tomorrow. We may drive to the in-laws and head home on Sunday. We may drive about half-way and stay overnight and then drive the rest tomorrow. Doesn’t really matter. When the decision is finally made, that is the direction will will go, until the signs say to move differently.

Be flexible and succeed.

The Delicate Arch, a natural arch near Moab, Utah

The Delicate Arch, a natural arch near Moab, Utah (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The intent was to blog each night. The idea was to share the experiences in Utah with everyone. The days became long. The hikes far more tiring than anticipated. Here now lies the last night, beer in glass.

While I am sipping on a 4-Play Porter from Shared of Pale Brewing Company and a video is being exported from iMovie of scenes shot at Canyonlands National Park, the time has come to finally updated the readers of where we are. This whirlwind tour of Utah started with beer and it will the same way.

The first day saw us at Park City, where beer was consumed at the Olympic Park and the No Name Saloon. A panoramic video was shot at the top of the town lift near the old silver mine (King Silver Mine). The area was beautiful and it was warm. Flies abounded. In the late afternoon it rained and that is when we ate at the No Name Saloon. The Buffalo cheeseburger was great.

Mid-tour found us in Cedar City and enjoying Zion National Park. It is quite interesting how little English was heard amongst the visitors. The two most popular languages were German and French. I didn’t get to speak to many. But it was fun trying to remember the vocabulary to attempt at understanding.

This last night we went to Arches National Park to see the stars. This park is open all day. A quite drive out of Moab and we are there. Pull over. Let our eyes adjust. Oh my. I took some long exposures with my Nikon D7000. I’ll post some results.

The beer is nearly gone. It is a LONG day tomorrow making our way to North Carolina.

Yes, another July 4th. A day to drink heavily, roast hot dogs and set off fireworks. What does it all mean? Who cares???

Very much like Thanksgiving, Independence Day in America has been reduced to sales, eating and drinking. Long gone are the ideals that shaped the country: individual Liberty, the right for an individual to pursue their dreams, opportunity for all. Instead, Americans have traded the Liberty for 30 pieces of silver and the promise of money when they retire. The largest con job in the history of the country was declared legal last week and the useful idiots are celebrating.

Sad

The founding fathers noted Liberty was something that required eternal vigilance if it was to be kept. Abraham Lincoln noted we would not be destroyed from without, but from within. And he was correct. Our country is swimming in debt and is now owned by a central bank (thank you Woodrow Wilson). We are no longer Independent. We elect moron after moron to every office. Our schools fail because an educated populace is hard to control. America is not alone, Europe is gladly jumping off the same cliff to Tyranny.

Stop!

Take back your Independence. Learn to provide for yourself. Follow Your desires. And live.

My vlog on the 4th.

In August, Miami, Florida is hot and very humid. It’s tropical nature can fully be felt this time of year. It should not be surprising that this time of year is also the slow season in Miami. Many hotels have too many empty rooms and prices for them are quite a bit less. So, of course I was in Miami for Top Gun Training.

Friday gave rise to some Geocaching, claiming the the Florida badge and dropping off a travel bug that I found in western North Carolina. I added some miles to its journey by dipping it in Geocaches in Virginia, West Virginia and around Cincinnati. That little one has been around quite a bit. Happy travels.

The training itself was incredible. How often do you get to spend time with not one, but three self-made millionaires in the ways in which they acquired it. For those you could see outside the discussions, leadership by example was quite evident. It is now time to put all those ideas, philosophies and methods into practice. Otherwise, the investment in time and money will have been for little.

Travel back was a bit of a nuisance. Leaving Miami late, the tardiness and annoyances kept falling like Dominoes. Late to Atlanta, waiting on the gate to be cleared, late leaving Atlanta and then having to wait 20 minutes for the bus to the long term parking lot. By the time I arrived home, I was not only very tired, but with the beginning of a bad headache. Such are the sacrifices of the Entrepreneur.

Before the ink from the pen in Obama’s hand was dry from signing the bill to increase the debt limit yet again, the next fiscal Armageddon was being put before the country. Due to no spending decreases, rating houses are still aiming to lower the credit rating for the US.

The emotional Progressives cry. Tea Partiers nod knowingly. Why still the downgrade? It is simple, no spending cuts.

But there are over $2 trillion in cuts! No, there isn’t. Only with Washington’s moronic base line budgeting is deciding to spend $7 trillion more instead of $10 trillion a cut. Even the Clintons had to put up with this stupidity early in their co-presidency when wanting to reduce the rate of increase. Fellow Democrats kept calling them cuts, Hillary correctly correctly pointed out they were decreases in the rate of growth, not cuts.

This form of Washington fiscal stupidity is why we are in this mess and why we will not get out. The credit rating houses wanted to see real cuts, not decreases in the rate of growth. The only saving grace for the US is that much of Europe is far worse off. You know Europe, that bastion of wonderfulness the Progressives like to prop up as an example of what Socialism can do for all of us. Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland. They are all in trouble. England is having to cut deep and France is wondering in the dark. Only Germany seems to have its house mostly in order. They would be better off returning to the Deutsch Mark and going home.

The US government borrows about 43 cents for every dollar it spends. Increasing the debt just moves that closer to 50 cents. This is not sustainable. Artificially propping up the economy only prolongs the misery and prevents growth. Hoover was wrong to spend money to stimulate the economy. So was FDR and Bush. Obama spent money to payback supporters. If companies cannot rise and fall, markets fail. The result is Japan. Their debt is over 200% GDP. Ever wonder what happen to all the Japanese investments that so scared everyone in the 1980s?

Markets need to be free to live and die. Capitalism requires a service be performed before earning renumeration. No service, no money. Everything else is thievery. George Soros earns his money by ultimate thievery, collapsing currencies. That is not Capitalism. That is Barbarism. That is Piracy.

I didn’t vote for Bush because he is a Social Democrat. His spending habits were a constant source of complaint. The beginnings of the Tea Party started in his first term, held underground for fear of a Democrat victory. Once Congress was lost, the bonds became loosen. The yearning for Liberty stirred again in the hearts of the Citizens. Raising the debt limit once again shows our Masters want us all Enslaved. The only Unknown is whether Obama’s Cloward and Piven strategy will work before the next election.
