It was 4am and a boom awoke me from a slumber. Flash! Boom! Boom! Flash! Is that thunder and lightning?

The sound of rain. The sounds of hard rain! Yes! Finally! Some rain!

Southwestern Ohio is not nearly as dry as Texas these days, but the month of July has only had about 20% of normal rainfall. The clay ground is hard. Grass is brown. Trees have yellow leaves. This rain is hard. It is swift. It will help fill the streams and rivers, but the ground will not soak up much. The runoff will be muddy. Flash! Boom!

The rain helps. A gentle rain would be better. I am thankful for the rain and pray some finds Texas soon.
